Large Aluminum 1940s -50s Military or Civilian Aircraft Landing Light Frame

One unusual T.W.A. airliner Grimes landing light cover or frame assembly. We'd had a Grimes landing light assembly in this unit and the buyer was insistant that we remove the framework and send him the light assembly so that he could save $2 on shipping. And, that we did!

And thus, we ended up with an interesting piece of tobstone-like framework that measures about 18 inches x 16 inches and has a 12" hole where the light was and lots of Dzus fittings. I suppose it'd mae an interesting picture frame of your girl in a bikini or something. Although the aluminum is a little dirty now I suspect you could polish it out to a mirror finish if that's your thing.

I suspect this was a WWII mil surplus item that'd been repurposed for an early TWA airliner. I don't recognize any of the housing trim and am a little thrown off by the hardware choice as used there. Possibly DC-3 or DC-4 application? Who knows. Lots of hardware and a service hinge. I don't see any other part numbers or markings.

This came to us in a lot of warehouse stored parts and was shelved for probably 50 years.
