The Monerai glider was developed in the United States in the late 1970s for home-built construction.

It features a traditional V-shaped nacelle and empennage, as well as a mid-mounted, constant-chord cantilever wing.

Kit assembly takes approximately 600 hours.

It features bonded wing skins and includes 90° flaps for glide control. The fuselage, nacelle, and tail boom are constructed of a welded steel tubular truss enclosed in a fiberglass shell, with aluminum tubing for the tail boom.

A modification to the spar mounting was introduced in 1983.

A version with a Monerai P engine mounted on a pylon above the wings was developed. A Sachs rotary engine was selected for the prototype. A version with extended wingtips (Monerai Max) is also available, increasing the wingspan to 12 m (39 ft) and improving the lift-to-drag ratio from 28:1 to over 30:1.
